I will run out of procedures to post in about a week or two.  Since the chemistry cannot keep up with posting one decent procedure a day, I will have to revert into a more convenient one-post-per-month frequency. (I think I will also rename Org Prep Daily as The Reactionary Organiker and will proceed to expound my entire world-wiew here.) Only you can prevent it – by submitting a good reproducible scalable procedure to appear here.

  2. Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I know that you have a large readership and would like to point out that a bunch of fellow chemists just got laid off at Bayer in West Haven, CT as well as Berlex in Richmond, CA. WH research will be completely shut down by the end of Jan 2007, so there are alot of us currently looking for employment. Derek (of “In the Pipeline” blog fame) is one of my soon-to-be former colleagues. If you guys know of any openings, please forward this information to Derek (email given in his blog), and he will forward it to the rest of us. He will take information relavent to biology openings as well, and will forward it to the appropriate people. The company sponsored headhunter is apparently not very useful at all, so we are all trying to look out for each other.

Josh Albert is the only recruiter worth talking too for medicinal chemistry

  4. Thanks. A colleague (PhD) gave my information to him, but it seems that the associate level chemists are passed along to his colleague Marc Miller.

  5. Marc Miller is also fantastic, he and Josh make a great team…

  6. I asked couple of people here in medicinal chemistry but all new chemistry positions here at the institute are unfortunately taken already (we had 5 chemists joining in the last months) and we will probably stay at the current number of chemists until we get more space (our main campus will need 2 years to completion – they just started buldozing the ground). I can ask in biology groups and DMPK though.
