I would like to thank Dylan for mentioning this web page in his final Tenderbutton post – the traffic to Org Prep Daily effectively tripled quadrupled in the last two days.

I don’t expect this tenderbutton effect to go on much longer but I am delighted to have you here just the same. (You see, I have been trying to make this site as bland and didactic as possible. There is no hope and now that you are trapped here, you will be forced to read through 300 very detailed procedures – all of them for making morpholines. Pay close attention because there will be exam at the end).

Just like you, I grieve the passing of Tenderbutton –  it was good fun. It will be missed.

  1. I think it is really nice what you are doing and I used your blog as an example of the advantages of using social software in chemistry. I hope you inspire many others!

  2. I have seen in another blog people doing bets (just the author, who proposes his boss for it, nothing wrong with that, :)) about who is going to be the next nobel prize in chemistry.

I reckon that one day it wouldnt be stupid to think that people like the authors of Tenderbutton, Org. Prep. Daily or Tot. Synt., should be recognised (well, Nobel Prize are big words) for the huge impact that these chem blogs are having in our professional community IMHO. As far as I know the communication before between academics was limited to friends, or known fellows, but never was communication between students, people from industry, academics, etc.

  3. Yes, by all means, do recognize me as much as you like and please contribute here also – to the Milkshake Lexus Fund because car is necessity for my work. (No donation is too big.) I was totally inspired by Dylan, you see.

  4. Actually I donated money to Dylan, even when I thought it was wrong and I am not wealthy at the moment, and probably he wouldnt donate that money in the inverse case.

Even when your comments and posts are really valuable and pedagogic, and encouraging, initiatives like that could pervert blogs, unless it becomes a professional activity. Anyway hats down to your blog milkshake!!
